Built within the larger Devānya community, the villa is sustainably engineered and eco-conscious. It offers the rare, much-needed off-grid seclusion and the refined service of a fully staffed home. Around the villa itself, there is ample bird life unique to Kumaon region at the given elevation.
In and Around
Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary is home to leopards, Indian red foxes, Himalayan black bear and over 200 species of birds. Closer to the villa there are numerous hiking trails along the river and waterfall spots in the surrounding hills. For the spiritually inclined, the ancient shrines and cave sites of Kasar Devi, Jageshwar, and Gananath are within driving distance. As also are Mukteshwar Temple, Bhimashankar Temple, Kainchi Dham (Neem Karoli Baba’s Ashram).

The Living Space
Drawing from the Kumaoni-style koti-banal architecture, the villa has been built using local timber and stone. Built on stilts and across three levels, it evokes the feeling of hiding away in a treehouse — a luxurious one at that. Picture heated floors made from Himalayan slate, custom furniture by Mangrove Collective, opulent rugs from Jaipur Rugs, an Ellementry and FCML bar, and high-speed internet. Large windows, some extending from floor to ceiling, and transparent skylights bridge the distance between the indoors and the outdoors.
The uppermost level houses two bedrooms, including the master. While the lowermost level has the third bedroom (ideal for children). The living and dining areas are on the middle level. The north-facing deck and the south-facing terrace of this level and the bedrooms on the upper level open out to panoramic views of the surrounding hillside. Of the large hill that Devānya occupies, fruit orchards make up over 20 acres and another 20 acres is virgin forest, where endemic species of flora, such as ringal bamboo, Himalayan raspberry and Indian willow, have been preserved. All areas of the villa are wheelchair accessible thanks to an internal lift.

Reaching Villa in the Woods
The villa is a 75 minute drive from Kathgodam, the nearest railway station, and 2.5 hours from the Pantnagar airport, which is serviced daily by Indigo from New Delhi. Alternately, you could fly to Bareilly airport directly from Mumbai and Bangalore. The Villa can arrange for transfers from the nearest airport or railway station. If you are driving from Delhi, it takes 6.5 hours to reach Devānya. Plus: Devānya’s helipad is available to guests for use.
